Preface

The section contains data on the situation with crimes and convictions including separate types of most hazardous and widely spread crimes. Information on persons exposed as criminals or offenders. Their number and composition by age group, the distribution of convicts by main penalties are presented. Information is presented according to data submitted by the Ministry of Interior and the Legal Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.

Recorded crime is a detected and officially recorded dangerous for the society action stipulated by the criminal legislation. Registration of crimes and offenders is carried out by all the internal affairs bodies, authorized to criminal prosecution within their competence.

The number of condemned includes persons for whom the sentences have been adjudicated by courts and put into legal force.
