The section represents statistics related to financial investments, investments in non-financial assets and foreign investments.

Investments in non-financial assets include the following categories: fixed capital investments, investments in intellectual property assets, expenditures of research and development, experimental and technological works, investments in other non-financial assets. In the system of indicators, characterizing volume and structure of investments in non-financial assets the highest priority is given to investments in fixed capital which include expenditures on creation, reproduction and acquisition of fixed assets (new construction, extension, reconstruction and modernization of units, which lead to increase of the original cost of objects, purchase of machines, equipment, transport as well as expenditures on the formation of draft and breeding herd, perennial planting, etc.).

Distribution of fixed capital by kinds of economic activities is performed in accordance with OKVED classification taking into account the purposes of the fund allocation, i.e. the kind of activity where it will be used.

Data related to investments in fixed capital is given at actual prices, volume indices of fixed capital investments were estimated at constant prices.

Since 2005 fixed capital investments are given excepting value-added tax.

 

Financial investments - investment of money, tangible and other assets in securities of other legal entities, bonds of state and local loans, in charter (contributed) capitals of other legal entities, established on the territory of the country or abroad as well as loans given to other legal entities.

Foreign investments in the economy of Russia are regarded as investments of the capital by foreign investors as well as by affiliated legal entities of the Russian Federation abroad in objects of entrepreneurial activity on the territory of Russia, with the aim of gaining profits. Investments are subdivided into direct, portfolio and others.

Direct investments refer to investments made by legal entities or individuals entirely owning the enterprise or controlling not less than 10 percent of shares of its charter capital.

Portfolio investments refer to the acquisition of shares, stocks, bonds, promissory notes and other securities. They make less than 10 percent of the total charter capital of the organization.

Investments unspecified as direct or portfolio are treated as others.

Information on foreign investments is given for those organizations which presented their statistical reports including investments in roubles converted into US dollars but excluding data on monetary-crediting regulating bodies, commercial and savings banks.
