The 10th meeting of the Governing Council
Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific

    On December 11-12, 2014 the 10th meeting of the Governing Council of the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) took place in the ESCAP headquarters in Bangkok.

At the Meeting the Director of SIAP presented a report on the work done in 2014. The report specified, that during the reference period 16 training courses and seminars, attended by 681 representatives of the statistical services from 51 countries had been conducted. The representative of the Federal State Statistics Service noted the positive dynamics of cooperation with ESCAP and confirmed the Rosstat’s intention to continue cooperation with ESCAP and SIAP on joint projects.

The Russian delegation confirmed the accretion of developing joint projects on economic statistics with the Statistics Division of ESCAP. As a result of negotiations with the representatives of ESCAP Statistics Division there was decided to continue the joint work within the framework of the ESCAP development of economic statistics in the region and for these purposes to design feasibility for the new project "Creation of conditions for production and dissemination of economic statistics indicators to national statistical services of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, as well as SNA development at the regional levels". Later on the project is supposed to be submitted for the approval by the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the ESCAP secretariat.
