On March 3-6, 2015 the UN headquarters in New York saw the 46^th session of the UN Statistical Commission. The Commission is the governing body for coordination of international statistical activities, as well as development of new standards, concepts, methods and their implementation in the national and international practices.

The 46th session was attended by delegates from 147 countries and 65 international organizations, regional and functional offices of the United Nations. The Russian delegation was led by the Head of Rosstat A. Surinov.

The 46th session of the UN Statistical Commission was held under the slogan: "The best data for a better life." The main issue of the discussions was the problem of monitoring in the future within the framework of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and associated targets for the post-2015 period. Earlier a number of seminars and meetings were held, with a primary focus on the abovementioned problem.
